Farming
Farming has always been the most important industry around Cuckfield. It sustained the villagers and the nearby rural community for centuries.
Here we take a brief look of the work involved as recently as 1966, captured on film on a farm near Cuckfield. It shows the variety of machinery used at the time. We see a combine harvester working the fields gathering the wheat harvest, filling a trailer with wheat as it goes.
Also, we can see examples of stacking straw bales, ploughing, muck-spreading to enrich the soil and caring for live-stock.
